American Governments have no right to control the economy. Unfortunately, in 1930's, a worldwide financial crisis came and force many people to lose their jobs, homes and even their lives.
Roosevelt closed all the banks until he passed the legislation which gives presidents temporary power to control all the finances in the country and finally he did it. Maybe we can say that it was Roosevelt who saved America and that is why citizens believe him and respect him.
The Great Depression shows the weakness of the Federal Reserve System. However, the system has been completed now in order to avoid a similar situation.
The best hope is that the 12 regional banks will not allow this to happen again.
