The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Last Friday, we had a chance to visit one of the twelve regional Federal Reserve banks in American. Firstly, we listened to a presentation about the history, daily functions and responsibility about the bank.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, commonly known as the Boston Fed, is responsible for the First District of the Federal Reserve, which covers Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. It is headquartered in the Federal Reserve Bank Building in Boston.
Through this trip, I learned how to identify counterfeit currency, it is very useful. I also know that the memory card and credit card and how to apply for this two kinds of cards. This let me for money knowledge have more understanding, also let I learned to control money should be reasonable
.

A Visit to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Last week, I visited the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Before I went there, I had heard that Federal Reserve System was a special federal banking system in the United States.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston was Boston’s third tallest building. The building was completed in 1977 and is 614 feet (187 m) tall with 32 floors. It was grand and superb. Then a staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston gave us an excellent presentation. Thorough his introduce, I knew Federal Reserve System was a federal banking system which composed basically of a central, governmental agency. It was designed by Congress to have a broad perspective on the economy and on economic activity in all parts of the nation. And Federal Reserve Banks were established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation’s central banking system. The Federal Reserve Banks have several functions which include hold the cash reserves of depository institutions and make loans to them and move currency and coin into and out of circulation.
I think Federal Reserve System can regulate American economy and stabilize American commodity prices and the circulation of money. American government doesn’t have power to issue currency directly. It avoids inflation and keeps balance of American economy.
As a business student, I was very excited that had a chance to visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It attracted me and I learnt a lot from this meaningful and special trip.

The Federal Reserve System

I remember that I know the Federal Reserve System because of Franklin Roosevelt, the Great Depression and the New Deal.
American Governments have no right to control the economy. Unfortunately, in 1930's, a worldwide financial crisis came and force many people to lose their jobs, homes and even their lives.
Roosevelt closed all the banks until he passed the legislation which gives presidents temporary power to control all the finances in the country and finally he did it. Maybe we can say that it was Roosevelt who saved America and that is why citizens believe him and respect him.
The Great Depression shows the weakness of the Federal Reserve System. However, the system has been completed now in order to avoid a similar situation.
The best hope is that the 12 regional banks will not allow this to happen again.

The Fedral Reserve Bank of Boston

We went to the Fedral Reserve Bank of Boston on last Friday afternoo. I have not been there before. So, I was excited about this trip.
The Fedral Reserve Bank of Boston is huge, fashion, and style. It is also pretty spectacularity. I was surprised when I saw this building. When we entered in the bank, I find that the lobby in there is also beautiful. It is clean and bright. A few minutes later, we went to a basement room attending a lecture.
During the lecture, I knew a large amount of informations about the Fedral Reserve Bank. The Fedral Reserve Bank of Boston is independent within the United State Government. It is include a management committee. There are seven committee members whose appointed by President and passed by the Congress. The term of office foe each member is fourteen years. They cannot reappointment after that. The Fedral Resever Bank act as the central bank in the United State. Its power are gain from Congress. It is independent bank. In addiotion, the Fedral Reserve Bank make monetary policy, and also make bank regulation and supervision. It is also a payment system.
In the end of lecture, the bank give each of us a packet of money that are cutted by something. The management told us if the money is too old, they will recover it, and cut them into pieces. That is interesting.
I like this trip. It let me konw many information of The Fedral Reserve Bank in the United States.

Trip

Last Friday, we went to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It is a pity that we just listened to a presentation because at first I think maybe we have the chance to see something special such as the bank treasury dealing room.

When we passed the safety- check, we followed a staff walking through a door. After going down to a deep basement, we finally got to the lecture room. I found that all the doors are thick. Actually, because I am not very interesting in the economy and finance, after the presentation began, I feel a little boring. However, I still think it is a good opportunity for those students who will enter the field that has a relationship with finance. Finally, all of us receive a free example of genuine which is shredded and may contain the equivalent of approximately ten bills.

Four days later, it comes the Independence Day. I heard that there would be fireworks at night. I am looking forward to seeing the beautiful fireworks and experiencing the first Independence Day I will have in America.

trip in bank

this weekend we came toFederal Reserve Bank of Boston for a lecture. this is wonderful trip and i am enjoy it. this is a opportunity to join the presentation and we learn more about bank than before. this building is especially because we can not smoking outside, and we should go to specifically place to smoke. the building is beautiful, it is surround by modernity building, it looks cool. it is very important that we should get security check, and it is very rigorous like a air station.

when we go into the building to take part in the presentation, we get something about Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. And although the presentation only 1 hour, but with times go by we follow the speaker to learn knowledge embedded.

It is good trip that I am very enjoy it.

my fourth week in Boston

kiya

This week we went to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It’s lucky for us to have a chance visiting one of the 12 regional Federal Reserve banks in the United States. We were given a presentation there and realized much more banks operating mechanism.
The Federal Reserve System is the central banking system of the United States. It was created in 1913 and made by the Federal Reserve Act, which is a independent bank within government include the level of Federal open Market Committee( Federal Reserve Banks), and the lower level is the member Banks(other depository institutions). The essential factor I acquired from this presentation is that the payment system, which can cope with over 4 trillion dollars per day and the electronic payments from citizen, can easily be handled in daily life.
In a word, the monetary policy and the banking regulation, as well as the supervision of the Federal Reserve Bank system are extraordinarily attractive, especially the first Bank of the US is not Government Bank, but it still can perform a crucial role in America. Additionally, I was so impressed of this kind of presentation, it makes me not only switch the history of the Federal Reserve Bank, but it also presents me an exactly information about the system of it.
The trip gave me a deep impression and really made me enjoy it.

the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Last weekend, we went to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for a lecture. It was founded in 1913-12-23. In New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Richmond, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, San Francisco, Louis and Kansas also has the Federal Reserve Bank. It is the most powerful of banks in the world, it has the most gold and dollar in the world. Despite its initial aim is to establish stable and protect American banking system, but the present main responsibility is to control inflation. According to the federal reserve bank of America's constitution, its purpose is to help eliminate inflation and deflation, and actively participate in creating environment, promote high employment rate, price stability and national economic growth and rising consumption level."

Main task is to management and regulating banking by buying and selling American Treasury bonds to implement monetary policies to maintain a strong payment system, as the U.S. central bank, the fed from the U.S. congress to gain power. It is regarded as the independent central bank for its resolution can not obtain President or any of the top legislatures approved, it does not accept America's congress funding.

Central Federal Bank

This week, the field trip for Exploring America was visiting one of the twelve American Federal Bank. However, it is unfortunately I didn’t have that chance because my ankle was sprained the day before field trip. Luckily, I have heard a lot from my friends after then went back, and I’m so exciting and looking for a second chance to visit it by myself.
The function of the Central Federal Bank is doing research on economic activities as well as making monetary and financial policy for the whole country. Since the American government has already been provided with great power, in order to avoid the corruption among government, the Central Federal Bank is private funded. And they offer financial services such as transfer of funds but they do not print money. In addition, Federal Reserve Banks supervise and examine commercial banks that are members of this system.
Furthermore, my friend told me there is a excellent presentation made by one staff in Central Federal Bank. The presenter showed us several ways to identify fake money, like concentric circles, water mark, polymer thread, color shifting ink and so on. It seems better to use credit card or debt card.
This trip is very meaningful and useful for not only experiencing more about America this nation, but also we can learn economic and financial knowledge from it. I’m so regret that I missed this wonderful opportunity, but I am looking forward to the next one.

Trip 4-----Federal Reserve Bank

On the last friday, i visited Federal Reserve Bank of Boston which located in the downtown Boston. The mansion includes higher part and lower part ,the height of the building is 187 meters, and there are 32 floors. When i went into the door , many security were standing there. All the people need to go through the security check. To be honest, it makes me uncomfortable and nervouse. I really dislike people who check me. But it is a kind of job and it is necessary.

After the trip, i went to Chinatown. I really miss Chinese food and want some spicy food. But when i went through the street, suddenly it rained !I did not bring umbrella so i became drenched. Sometimes i really do not understand why the weather in Boston just like a baby's face, I mean it can be both sunny and rainy in one minute. But this week is so hot,I hope next week could be colder.

This Friday, my team’s destination was a very distinguished bank in the United States-----Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. This famous bank is in a distinctive 614-foot tall, 32-story building, located at 600 Atlantic Avenue in Boston. This was a special experience for me since it was my first time to visit a bank. With lots of expectation, I stepped into the spectacular gate.

Without doubt, the most significant thing occurred was definitely the unforgettable and brilliant presentation. The lecturer informed us of plenty of information about the banking including the history of the bank, the structure of the bank, the rules and regulations, how the bank operates and a little bit financial information. All of the content fascinated me to a large degree. I have learned quite a lot from this presentation.

As part of the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston promotes sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation. The Bank contributes to local communities, the region, and the nation through its high-quality research, regulatory oversight, and financial services, and through its commitment to leadership and innovation. Eventually, we also had a significant notice about how to differ and identify the fake money and the real one. The officer showed us the symbols which can help us easily to distinguish the counterfeit.

In conclusion, this journey benefited me a lot. It will continue to serve as a good memory in my life. I wish that the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston will run successfully forever.

Trip to Ferdal Reserve Bank

This week , our destination is the centre bank of the united states, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Before I going through the gate, some small aspects can prove the role of this bank in the society. It is really out of my mind that there is a limitation about taking pictures of these huge an impressive mansion. Even outside the building, the signal writes No SMOKING also made people confused. Maybe that is really a place which require people show enough respect. Followed security check make the whole trip more and more interesting. I experienced my first time to get in a bank without anything. I believe after going to this building the answer will uncover to me.
The presentation is contend and clearly. The foundation of the year federal reserve bank's history can dated back in 1913. And there are 12 branches which located 5 east coast and 6 in the middle of the states and another in SF west coast. The private ownership is good demonstration the freedom principle of the free market in the US. But it is still a part of government. There are 3 responsibility for Federal Reserve Bank: Monetary policy, Payment system and Banking regulation and supervision. It is really a pity which I cannot find my notes so that I cannot stretch too much in this field. At last, we also have a significant notice about how to differ the fake money and the symbols which can help us easily to distinguish the counterfeit note.
It is really a precious experience for both of us could enter the Federal Reserve Bank, and I hope our Boston story can continuous interesting and meaningful.

Visit the Federal Reserve Bank

This Friday, we have a wonderful trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. All of us have a presentation about the Federal Reserve Bank, and we get more knowledge about the Federal Reserve Bank. There are 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks located in big cities throughout the United States, and the central Federal Reserve Bank located in Washington, D.C. The function of the Federal Reserve Bank is to operate the Nation's central bank system, and do some business activities about the United States. And I get knowledge about the Federal Reserve Bank is different from other bank of the United States, such as the Bank of America, is that the Federal Reserve Bank is relatively independent, it is private bank, so the Federal Reserve Bank can get benefits or revenue. At end of the presentation, they show us how to avoid fake money, it is very useful for us, and it more convient than debit card, at least, we can let our money be more safety.
I love this kind of presentation, it can provide us more knowledge about the American Business, and it is very useful for our student whoes major is business, I am very expect to the next trip, we should deeper understand the United States.

I feel graceful that have chance to visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, which is the Decentralized Central Bank in the US. I also feel lucky to acquire kinds of knowledge from his presentation about the function of monetary policy, payment system as well as the Bank Regulation and Supervision. There are 12 Bank Reserve Banks created in 1913, and managed by Board of Governors, which is independent within Government. One of the functions that I interest most is the payment system, which has the high technology in solving checks and the currency from every aspects of America. With considering of the exactly materials about the payment system, this electronic system can cope with over 4 trillion dollars in daily work. Although the Federal Reserve Bank is not Government Bank, but it has a organized regulation and supervision rule, which controls the whole system of the reserve bank. After visited the Federal Reserve Bank, we went to the last 3 places of the freedom trail.

To sum up, it was a wonderful trip and a good time during this weekend.

This week's trip

This week we had the chance to visit one of the 12 regional Federal Reserve banks in the United States-Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. We listened to a presentation about the history, daily functions and responsibility about the bank.

The Federal Reserve Bank is the central bank of America which does researches about the economic activities, and make monetary policies. Its job to issuing money is crucial because issuing too much money will cause inflation, whereas issuing too less money will lead to recession. It also has the responsibility of payment system, and bank regulation and supervision.

The central bank in America differs from that in my own country because it is private. It has stockholders and earns revenue. However, it is a symbolic private bank. Firstly, stockholders cannot buy more shares or sell shares to others. They cannot get dividends either. Second, most of the revenue is given to the government. Nonetheless, it still reflects the individual freedom in American basic values. The Fed is not a fully government branch, so no one in the government can direct economic policies. Government control does not apply to the Fed. Similarly, even though one of the Fed's responsibilities is bank regulation and supervision, the Fed cannot directly regulate banks. It can only influence banks because they are other institutions regulating the commercial banks. As a result, not all the powers lie in one individual or group's hand, and it prevents the abuse of power.

Later we learned how to identify counterfeit money, which is very useful. We also got a pack of destroyed money. Sometimes when the money is too old or there is too much money in circulation, it will be destroyed. Hahaha~ ~Who will have too much money?^_^

After that, we continued our Freedom Trail. The harbor is very beautiful. We also went to the Old North Church where Paul Revere and other patriots put two lanterns to inform the invasion of British military. This steeple is where the lanterns used to be.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Leina
We had a trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston on last Friday and listened to a brief presentation given by one of the staff.
I only knew a few about the Federal Reserve Banks in the past. I knew they are different from commercial banks and investment banks and they are more like the institutions which supervise the national economic activities. Once, I read an article about “the super class” in newspaper, it describes that there are a small number of people who can resolve many complex and thorny issues in a short time, and their actions are related to many other countries in the world. That article also used the example of the former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Timothy Geithner, who now is the Treasury Secretary of Obama Administration. He used to lead a group of people dealing with domestic and global economic problems, and if he is not very hard-working or intelligent, it will be catastrophic to a large number of people both in the U.S. and overseas. (By the way, I think he is the most handsome treasury secretary in the history of the United States of America. But I hope that his abilities are far beyond his appearance. Time will tell.)
Back to our trip, this presentation impressed me with the recognition of the Federal Reserve Banks. The Federal Reserve System was established in 1913, and consists of 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks; most of them are located in major cities along the eastern coast. I wonder whether this kind of distribution can catch up with the speed of development of society nowadays. Maybe it still can because there are no signs to add some more in middle or western states. Although Boston is very small in size but very significant in influence, the financial, cultural, educational center of Massachusetts, of the United States.
Federal Reserve Banks are playing an important role in analyzing, adjusting national economic activities, to be precise, there are three main functions: 1.Monetary policy. 2. Payment system. 3. Banking regulation and supervision. The initial aim to set up the Federal Reserve System is to make monetary policy independent, out of government’s control. And they offer financial services such as transfer of funds but they do not print money. In addition, Federal Reserve Banks supervise and examine commercial banks that are members of this system.
Furthermore, the presenter showed us several ways to identify fake money, like concentric circles, water mark, polymer thread, color shifting ink and so on. It seems better to use credit card or debt card.
I like this kind of presentations and I really enjoy this visit because it is very meaningful and interesting to get to know more about economics for a pre-business student. And these are the aspects that I want to be familiar with. There are so many unknown things in this delicate city to observe and to explore. After all, Boston in the eyes of a student is different from that in the eyes of a visitor.

Federal reserve bank of boston

Today's trip is entirely different from what we had gone before. This time, we are fortunately enough to go inside one of the most famous central bank, Federal Reserve. Although it is only a branch of the Federal Reserve, it is solemn and inviting.
Inside the Federal Reserve, we walk through a long hall, and go into the meeting room.
Americans established it in 1913 and at that time it was decentralized Central Bank. It has 12 Federal Reserve branches across America. It has a precise structure just like a pyramid. The top is the Board of Governors. The second class is the Federal Open Market Committee. Next one is the Federal Reserve Banks. Then is the Member Banks and Other Depository Institution, which share the same hierarchy. The last one is American people.
The function of this architecture is to make issues but does not print money. Washington. D.C is the place where prints dollars.
The presentation also talks about the Monetary policy, Payment system and Bank Regulation and supervision.
At the last part of the presentation, it is good for the speak to tell us some details about how to avoid counterfeit note. It is quite useful for new students coming to America like us. He gives us much "money" in the end.
Great Trip for us to learn more about the US. A pity is that we can not take some photos; however, it doesn't matter to this wonderful trip.

Dear Revolution,

I'm enjoying reading all of your blogs about the Freedom Trail and looking at the great photos. Remember that I'll be taking anyone who wants to come on the rest of the Freedom Trail after the trip to the Federal Reserve tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be much cooler!

Please bring a piece of paper and a pencil to the Federal Reserve tomorrow. I'd like for you to write down three interesting things that you learned from the presentation so that we can discuss them on Wednesday. Also for Wednesday, please be sure that you have read chapter 6 in the book, which is about business in America. See you tomorrow.

The Freedom Trail

Last Friday, we had a great time about the freedom trail. We went many places, such as Boston Common, Park Street Church, Old Corner Bookstore, and so on. Those are really nice places, and leave me deep impression.

My favorite palce is the Boston Common. It was established in 1634, and it is the oldest public park in America. Puritan colonists purchased land rights to the Common's 44 acres from first settler of the area. Sometimes it was crowed by soiders, but now it is a place that open for people to enjoy.

There is a big lawn, many people lied in the sun to enjoy the sunlight. Moreover, there are many animals played in the fileds, such as birds, squirrels, and so on. They don't afraid of people. In contrast, they played with people. Some people feed these lovely animals. There is a fountain. The fountain is very beautiful. It is made by copper, and it is fancy. I have artistic feeling from this fountain.

Then, we went to the Granary Burying Ground. It also leaves me a deep impression. The Granary Burying Ground was established in 1660. It is the place for Boston's most famous sons. Many heroes were buried here. There are many steles which carve the heroes' name. When I wlaked into this place, I feel serious atmosphere in there, and let me thought lots of things. This place make people feel serenity and serious, and let people think deeply.

Although Friday is very hot, we still feel happy about the tour of the freedom trail. It is a pity that we haven't finish our tour because of the hot weather. I believe that we have the opportunity to finish it. Though this tour, I learned more things and history about Boston. I love Boston than before.

My Freedom Trail

Last week, we enjoyed the Freedom Trail on Friday. We started Winter Street from Downtown, then we divided into 3 teams, our trail is 2-miles long, it is a hard work for us because of the hot weather. Maybe it reached to 38 degrees Celsius that day.
First, we enjoyed the Boston Common, Boston Common is a public park of the United States, and two of my classmates gave a good presentation to introduce the park. Next site is Park Street church, also it is a big church which has many collections on the church. Then we enjoyed many famous site, such as King's chapel, First Public School, Granary Buring Ground and so on. When we go to a square, professor consider the hot weather, we have a rest at the square. At the rest time, I saw a street performance in square, 4 black people and 1 kid give us a wonderful street dance, and we clap for them. Then they want to perform a difficult program for us, I became a volunteer, I need stand at the center of crowds, and 3 ladies stand behind me, 1 black guy will jump over us. When I understand the rule, I feel scared, and I can feel my legs are shaking at that time. Performer told us just let ourself be relax, they are very professional, and do not move. Just a monment, performer let us stoop, and he begin to jump, then I listen the air voice, he jumped over us successful, and the performance is over.
The Freedom Trail is very interesting, and it is useful for us, we can get more knowledge about the American Revolution, and it is good for us to adjust the American life soon.

Blog June,18

I have visited to the Freedom Trail on June 18, 2010. And I am honored to visit there. There are lots of attractions over there, such as The Boston Common, Park Street Church and King’s Chapel and King’s Chapel Burying Ground.

The first thing we have done when we arrived to the Boston Common was everybody has done a short presentation to introduce the famous place. After that, every group was visiting every place.

One of my favorite places is the Boston Common. Because of it is the oldest park in the country, and nowadays, it is the anchor for the Emerald Necklace, a system of connected parks that winds through many of Boston’s neighborhoods. There is a lake in the middle of the park, and there are two swans which is my favorite bird over there. The other place which I favorite is King’s Chapel and King’s Chapel Burying Ground, and I was impressed. King's Chapel Burying Ground is the oldest burying place in Boston proper. The burying ground is the final resting place for many colonists, including John Winthrop, the Colony's 12 term governor; Hezekiah Usher, the colony's first printer; Mary Chilton, the first woman to step off the Mayflower.

Although the weather is very hot that day, but I am also very happy.

Exploring America

This week, I have spent a great time on an unforgettable journey. I went to a museum located by the sea which focuses on a famous and distinguished American president------John F. Kennedy.

In this museum, I was firstly treated a short movie about 45 minutes. Having watched this old movie with only black and white color, I really got some sense and special feelings about this great personage

He has achieved lots of things in his life. He primarily went to serve as a navy, after Kennedy's military service as commander of the Motor Torpedo Boat PT-109 during World War II in the South Pacific, his aspirations turned political. With the encouragement and grooming of his father, Kennedy represented Massachusetts's 11th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953 as a Democrat, and served in the U.S. Senate from 1953 until 1960. Kennedy defeated then Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon in the 1960 U.S. presidential election, one of the closest in American history. He was the second-youngest President (after Theodore Roosevelt), the first President born in the 20th century, and the youngest elected to the office, at the age of 43.

Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with the crime but was shot and killed two days later by Jack Ruby before he could be put on trial. Even though he has been dead for more than 40 years, today, Kennedy continues to rank highly in public opinion ratings of former U.S. presidents.

In this museum, I found a sword he has used. This weapon indicated that he was dedicated to war against enemy and terrorist. In my opinion, it is only when a person has participated a battle that could he really realize the significance of life. Only when a president understands the life can he become a successful and democratic president.

The Freedom Trail

This Friday we went to the Freedom Trail for our exploring american course. This trip was long but exciting. The weather was extremely hot. Most of us could not bear with that.
There are many interesting places, the first one is the one of the oldest church, which is like the "Big Ben" in British. It is old, but works. The pointer runs specifically, it is very rare for us to perceive such strong feeling about the relic. It has made a deep impression on my mind.
The second stop is cemetery. It is big and contains many gravestones here. Many anonymous Americans devote their lives in order to keep the democracy and freedom, the same as American founders' ideals. They fought hard and long in this campaign that most of us could not begin to image. Americans are better off of the brave leader, "the father of the United States", George Washington.
Next is about the King's Chapel. It is founded in 1686. Its first building was the first church of England. Inside this church, a strong sense of solemnity seizes me. The chairs are separated like the layout in a train. It is so special. One "room" contains a trihedral surrounded sofa. Maybe at that time, the senators probably had a meeting here.
At the way, there are two huge skyscrapers lying ahead of us,citizen bank and bank of america. It is so high that we could not see the top under the sunshine. The transparent windows are very beautiful and attract most of the tourists' attention.
Then we went to the quincy market to have a break. There are plenty of visitors from all over the world. It is famous for its Cate, many restaurants and shops make it possible to meet the need of both girls and gourmands.
Although the weather is too hot and we did not finish our plan, undoubtedly, it is an exciting and impressive trip.

Exploring America

Blog 3

This Friday, I went on the freedom trail in Boston. Despite the fact that the weather is a little bit hot, however, I was still excited about the trip. I have been 12 places totally, and I got very impressed about 2 places which I would like to talk about here.

The first one is the Boston common. Dating from 1634, it is one of the oldest city parks in the United States. The Boston Common consists of 50 acres of land bounded by Tremont Street, Park Street, Beacon Street, Charles Street, and Boylston Street. Furthermore, The Central Burying Ground is found on the Boylston Street side of Boston Common. There, one can find the burial sites of the artist Gilbert Stuart and the composer William Billings. Also buried there are Samuel Sprague and his son, Charles Sprague, one of America's earliest poets. Samuel Sprague was a participant in the Boston Tea Party and fought in the Revolutionary War.

Besides, I was also appealed by Granary Burying Ground. The Burying Ground was the third cemetery established in the city of Boston and dates to the year 1660. The need for the site arose because the land set aside for the city's first cemetery, King's Chapel Burying Ground located a block east was insufficient to meet the city's growing population. Early in its existence the area was known as the South Burying Ground until 1737 at which point it took on the name of the granary building which formerly stood on the site of what is now the Park Street Church.

One of the most striking features of the Burying Ground was the row of eleven large European elms that fronted on Tremont Street. The elms were planted in1762 by Major Adina Paddock and John Ballard, and by 1856 reached ten feet in circumference. The walk under the elms was known as "Paddock's Mall." Ironically while the entrance was shaded by the large elms, the grounds itself were devoid of any trees at all until the first major improvement was undertaken in 1830 when a number of trees were planted around the grounds.

It is pity that owing to some objective reasons, I had to finish it in advance and therefore didn't visit all places. But I will continue to finish this trip if I can be offered another opportunity.

Freedom Trail

We have visited the Freedom Trail in Boston last Friday afternoon, which is a famous scenery with a historical background. There are America's oldest park, and a Park Street Church, Boston Latin School......

The most attractive place i think is the Faneuil Hall and The Quincy Market, the second one is the place we ate a delicious Lunch, what i was interest is that it has a nice Chinese food Store.
With considering the background of these place, the Freedom Trail was originally built in 1742 by Schofield, it was due to the decision prompting from the local journalist William Schofield. Because of these, the Boston National Park was established in 1974.
To sum up, it was a essential field trip because it takes me into the past formerly years. It also presents me a conducive place where were we of that period of history.

The trip to freedom trail

On a really hot day, our group go to one of the hottest places in Boson. Our trip begin at the place called Boston Common. It is really a relaxing place for people to have a rest and enjoy the natural environment. Mrs. Moir tell us in serval years ago there is the place which people raise sheep. I can imagine how peaceful life the farmers leads. After fifteen minutes stay, we go to see the Parker Street Church, when I get in the church, a kind of smell remind me how many years it have. It is also a place where the national song firstly ring in the 1831 independence day in the United States. Next, we get the place called Granary Burying Ground. It is a place where burying many famous people in Boston, such as the signatories of the Declaration of Independence: John Hancock and Samual Adams and also the parents of the Franklin. With a respectful atmosphere, we briefly look around the King's Chapel and Boston Latin school. Then, it is a place named Old City Hall, there is a statue of Franklin and also a small donkey. I and Andy give our group a small introduction of a important place in the freedom trail, Faneuil Hall. And then we have a rest and I go to the Quincy Market and grab some delicious snack to eat. The price for different place snacks is really expensive. After I eat up, Oyin tell us a bad news the weather is too high to continue the following trip.
In order to understand the steps of the foundation of the United States, I will choose another day to complete the Freedom trail. I am really appreciate the courage and wisdom of the pioneers of the founder of the United States. At last, I have to say I really enjoy my life in Boston

The Freedom Trail

Time seems to pass quickly since I came to the USA. After having stayed here for 4 weeks, I gradually get used to the life here. At the same time, everything seems to get on the right track.
Last Friday, we had the Freedom Trail which started from the Boston Common and ended at the Faneuil Hall. It is a long trip and because of the hot weather, we all felt tired and exhausted.
In front of the Faneuil Hall, there is a small square. Some black people were performing to earn money. They first danced to attract a lot of people. After that, they asked four volunteers to stand in line and do the stand- trunk- bending. One performer jumped overhead and also turned a somersault. All the spectators couldn't help applauding.
The time is limited so that we did not finish the trip. Though we were tried after this trip, I still enjoyed experiencing the history of Boston.

The Freedom Trail

Last weekends we have a freedom trail as a very long trip, but a happy journey.
At first, we visited the Boston Common. It is the America’s oldest pack, originally used as grazing ground for livestock. There are many animals in it like cows, sheep and so on. Then we went to the Park Street Church. It built in 1809 and still used today. The Pack Street Church is a parish church in the Church of England in Boston, Lincolnshire. It is famous for its extraordinarily tall tower, known as the Boston Stump. The Granary Burying Ground, founded in 1660, the Granary Burying Ground in Massachusetts is the city of Boston's third-oldest cemetery. Located on Tremont Street, it is the final resting place for many notable Revolutionary War-era patriots. King’s Chapel and King’s Burying Ground, King’s Chapel was the first non-Puritan church in the United States, originally built in 1688 on the site of part of the burying ground. When we entered inside can smell aromatic flavor. I can't say what it is, but very good smell. Boston Latin School is the oldest public school in the country. Boston Latin School was established on April 23, 1635. it is very old. Later, we went to the Boston Massacre, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall …But because the weather was too hot, we can visit all the sites. My favorite sites is Paul Revere’s House, although not to have the opportunity to visit it , but if I get free, I will go there, because I like wooden structure, I am interested in it.
This weekend is very happy.

I always thought Boston was just a modern city, because it was the fashionable and commercial center of Massachusetts. But through the freedom trail last Friday, it gave me a new impression. Boston was also a historic city.
We started from the Boston Common in which was the starting point of the freedom trail. It was the oldest public park in the United States. Boston Common's history goes back as far as 1634, when the area was designated a common pasture. It was also used for military purposes and for public hangings. The gallows were removed in 1817 and from 1830 on the grazing of cattle was forbidden. Ever since, the Boston common mainly served as a public park for recreational purposes. It was a pastoral in Boston Common English style with a very open character and informal layout. In Boston common, I saw some lovely pigeons were finding food in the green grass and some sea gull were flying in blue sky. All of those showed the peaceful summer landscape.
And another memorable place was King’s Chapel and King’s Chapel Burying Ground in which I did the presentation. King’s Chapel was the first non-Puritan church in the United States, and the Burying Ground was Boston’s first and only burying place for almost 30 years. In fact, it was as old as Boston itself. It was the final resting place for many colonists.
After visiting these historic landmarks of freedom trail in Boston, I learned its special history. I enjoyed this amazing trip and really loved the beautiful city.

king's chapel and king's chapel burying ground

This week, I went to many famous places in Boston on Friday. There are totally 10 places. However, because of the hot weather we leave in advance. Here I would like to talk about 2 places which are unforgettable for me.

King’s Chapel is a Christian Unitarian church in Boston, Massachusetts, located at the corner of Tremont Street and School Street. King’s Chapel was founded by Royal Governor Sir Edmund Andros in 1686 as the first Anglican Church in New England during the reign of King James . In 1749, construction began on the current stone structure, which was designed by Peter Harrison and completed in 1754. The stone church was built around the wooden church. When the stone church was complete, the wooden church was disassembled and removed through the windows of the new church. The wood was then shipped to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia where it was used to construct St. John’s Anglican Church. That church was destroyed by fire on Halloween night. But in 2001, it has been rebuilt.

King’s Chapel Burying Ground is a historic cemetery at King’s Chapel on Tremont Street in Boston, Massachusetts and is the oldest cemetery in the city. The burying ground was founded in 1630 as the first cemetery in the city of Boston. After being unable to locate land elsewhere, the local Anglican congregation was allotted land in the cemetery in 1686 to build a church. The burying ground is the site of the graves of many historical figures. It was Boston’s only burial site for 30 years, and is stop on the Freedom Trail.

The Freedom Trail

The most impressive place for me was the Granary Burying Ground. In my imagination, a burying ground should be serious and everyone who visits there seldom talks. To my surprise, the atmosphere was comfortable and maybe I felt this way because of the sunlight. What I knew for sure was that all of us had great respect for those who were sleeping under our feet.
The Boston Common impressed me a lot, too. The weather was so hot that we really enjoyed standing in the shadow of trees. It seemed that many people considered it a good idea to go to the park. We wished we could stay there for a while; however, there were other fascinating places we should have a look at.
After about a two hour walk, we all felt really tired, which disappointed me because we had no chance to go to the Copp's Hill. I planned to climb on the tower and look at the beautiful sceneries.
I will possibly choose a better day to take a trip to there.

In a word, we had fun indeed.

The Freedom Trail

This was my third field trip of the Exploring America. It was really a hot day. We started our trip at Park Street which is a very beautiful place. Our aim was to visit above 10 different scenery spots. During the trip I saw many ancient buildings and I realized that is the reason why Boston is so attractive. It is a combination of the history and modern. Boston is absolutely a city with a long history because there are so many old chapels or buildings in a small range. Among all the places I visited, the King's Chapel and Granary Burying Ground impressed me a lot. The King's Chapel is a fantastic chapel though it is a little bit small. The chapel looks old but it is protected very well. It makes me feel that I appeared at the time when is was built. Inside the chapel it was so beautiful, there is a stage for priest to declaim. It told how a chapel looks like. The Granary Burying Ground also impressed me a lot because I never thought about seeing buries in the city center. It made me thought about the ending of the Prison Break. It was a pity that I and my partner were too tired to go to the last three stops of the Freedom Trail. So I did not have the chance to see how beautiful the Copp's Hill is.
Even so, I had a good time through it field trip. It makes me become more familiar with Boston and american history.

Trip in Boston

It is a significant trip in last Friday. We began with down town crossing, traveling many part of place which is about Boston history.

At the beginning, we came to Old South Meeting House. It is a big house in Boston, this is a building which led to the Boston Tea Party, it has served as a gathering place for discussion and celebration and a haven for free speech.

Old state house is in the middle of trip. I think it is a beautiful house, this building was the center of Boston’s civic life in the 18th century and the scene of some of the most dramatic chapters in the lead-up to the American Revolution. As you explore the Old State House Museum you will discover wonderful stories about the people and events.

When we take break, we went to the church and have a rest. I think it is a nice day because we visited a lot of place that following historical developed.

The Freedom Trail

Upon getting out of the Park St. Station, we arrived at the Boston Common. There are people sitting, lying on the green grass, and they enjoyed the afternoon sunshine. The Boston Common looks so new and modern that I could not believe that I was in the America's oldest park! Statutes in the fountain must have a long history, watching people coming and going for centuries.

The roads along the Freedom Trail are has the combination of history and modern elements. On the one side there are historical attractions, and on the other side of the road, there are shops, hotels, and banks. The effort to preserve historical spots and develop the city is great.

The Granary Burying Ground is the resting place of Boston's most famous early citizens. Important people like signers of Declaration of Independence and patriots Paul Revere rested here. The headstones of victims of Boston Massacre showed the miserable history during that time. A boy aged six died in the Boston Massacre. People visiting there all showed great respect for the souls. They suffered and made contributions to the in dependence of North America.

We also walked past the Old State House Museum. An introducing board on the walls of reads"WITH IN THESE WALLS John Adams, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and other patriots debated the future of American self-government and set in motion the American Revolution." Suddenly I felt that I could see these famous people working hard till midnight for the independence of America. Touching the walls, I could hear their voices. If they could witness the changes to the United States over centuries, they would be very glad.

Every country has pioneers devoted themselves to the liberation of their people, and we should keep them in mind. These patriots also encouraged me to study hard and work hard to take more responsibility to construct my country.

Trip on Freedom Trail

This week, we have been to one of the most famous tourist attractions in boston as well as one of the most important part of American history. Even though the weather was so hot that day, we still had much fun, and at the same time, we have learned so many things about American history. The first place is called the Boston Common. It is America's oldest park and used to be the grazing gound for livesock such as cows and sheep. Then we went to Park Street Church, which played a very important role in protecting and promoting human rights and social justice in old days. It was built in 1809 and still used today. We then passed through Granary Burying Ground, King's Chapel and King's Chapel Burying Ground and Boston Latin School. Boston Latin School made a special impression for me. Not only because it was the oldest public school in this country, but also Bejemin Franclin, who is my most admiring person in American history. I was supposed to give a presentation for The Old North Church; however, unfortunately, we didn't have enought time to go through that far. But in short, it is a great trip, and I cannot wait to have my next feild trip on next friday!

Fabulous Little Trip——Mercury

Last Friday, we start from the DOWNTOWN, making a presentation. Along the way, we seem to travel all over the Boston visit all the famous attractions, which is really an eye-opener for us. We are very surprised that a well-known industrial city is full of historical atmosphere.
Although the weather is scorching hot sun, but we have great interest. First we went to the PARK STREET CHURCH. In Boston, few people do not know the church. The tourists will also visit Boston to watch the church. Church is red brick, round the hall, white spire. Her foot green, straight blue sky, like a big exclamation point praise life! Park Street Church was built in 1809, was later hailed as "the classic Christian Architecture".
Mere lists of students looking at doing a speech, my heart has butterflies in their stomachs. Some students are fluent in the appearance of the scenic features and interpretations of history are a perfect rhyme. However, some students forget the content, and had read the manuscript, making me nervous.
Unconsciously, it is my turn lectured. I am going to talk about the Boston Massacre. When preparing the material, I fear that too may be the subject of history, not enough to attract everyone's attention. But what if too many interesting topics to talk about, it will lead to the most important historical part is ignored. Oyin told me, I can tell when the historical background of interlude that interesting story. This allows us understand the history would not be boring. I really gained a lot.
Boston Massacre site is located opposite the old state round the square, laying the ground pebbles. Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770, nine British soldiers were several members of the public ridicule, and another group would like to vent their dissatisfaction with the public on weekdays on the British British troops with stones thrown, resulting in five people have been killed thus incurred the anger of the people, finally broke out shortly after the War of Independence. In order to mourn the five heroic martyrs, and their descendants in particular stone carving map recorded in the history of this tragic past.
After introduction, I am very proud because I am in a similar role of tour guide to introduce some well-known historical events. Even more out of the sweat, treacherous sun, I still feel very well. I'm looking forward to next week's destination.

Trip around downtown

I had a trip around downtown last weekend. I visited historical buildings in Boston. Boston really has a long history in USA.

My favourate place is quincy market. Quincy market is famous for it leader Josiah Quincy .When Josian decided to extend the older market called Faneuil Hall Markets, quincy market became a part of it. And now it is the commercial center of Boston. There are many shops, like clothing stores, flower stores, restaurant. Many people sit in the restaurant and watched the World Cup. The most intersting thing is that some artist had talent show in the street, such as singing. I really like this market, just like a small fun fair. People get together here and have some fun.

Now, I gradually like this city. There are many fun places where I should find.

my third week in Boston

This is my third week in Boston. I’m used to living here. The city is not strange for me anymore. People living in Boston are very enthusiastic about life; there is no so-called discrimination and distain. Here I made new friends, feel warmly, although sometimes still homesick.

We enjoyed the Freedom Trail on Friday. This is a 2.5 mile red-brick walking trail with rich history of American’s revolution. There are 16 nationally significant sites. Each attraction seems to tell a historical story. Walking in the street, the trail takes us into several historical sites within two or three hours. Although we didn’t finish the trip because the short time and high temperature, we were still shocked by the picturesque scenery and rich historical allusions.

Our professor told us to make presentations in each scenic spots. Helen and I gave the introduction in the Granary Burying Ground. The granary is the third oldest burying ground in the Boston proper and it is established in 1660. It is said there are almost 8000 people buried here but only has 2345 markers. In 1737, when grain was stored here, the burying ground was renamed the Granary. If you are bravely to look at these tombstones closer, you would find there are many graven images because puritan churches did not believe in religious icons or imagery, so ancient people used tombstones as symbolizes for artistic expression of their beliefs about the afterlife. They were full of mysteries but I still didn’t dare to take photos, maybe I was afraid to disturb these ghosts.

Our trip stopped in a place where many shops are. A red brick or painted line which connects the sites on the Trail also stopped here. It is a really nice trip and gave me a deep impression. Boston can be a world-famous city not only for its prosperity but also its deep-rooted culture. After trip, I went shopping with my friends. It was really a wonderful time for us. I think this is the nature of girls. Hahahaha…..

The Freedom Trail

by Leina

Our freedom trail started from the Boston Common, in which Bella and I gave the presentation. The Boston Common is the oldest public park in the United States, found in 1634, and it has witnessed many historic moments. The place was used as a pasture, and local residents grazed livestock here. Also, it once was a training field and over 1000 British soldiers made camp on the common when they occupied Boston, and they left from the Charles River that was near the common to face a fateful battle at Lexington and concord in April, 1775. And Boston Common was not always a place for entertainment; it was a public hanging site until 1817. In 1713, more than 200 citizens rioted on the common in response to a severe food shortage in the city. They attacked the ships and warehouses of a wealthy businessman who exported food to foreign countries for higher profits. As time goes by, the Boston Common is no longer a place for revolution, war or rebellion, but a site for public speaking, celebration, and recreation. Famous speakers like Martin Luther King, gave free speeches on the common to express their quest for civil rights, liberty and peace. Today the place is a beautiful garden for all to enjoy the sunshine and clean air.

The second place we visited was Granary Burying Ground, where many early famous citizens of Boston are buried, including Paul Revere. The ground is neat and peaceful, though it is so close to downtown. Different gravestones have undergone the corrosion of rain, wind and maybe human damage over the past 300 years. There are also many little flags—the stars and stripes flying in the wind—today, this history is still remembered by many Americans, people use the flags to show their memorial to the past.

We have visited the King’s Chapel as well, which was the first non-Puritan church in the U.S. The little church was very wealthy in colonist and pre-civil-war Boston, and has a deep relationship with African-Americans. King’s Chapel strongly supported abolitionist movement and held funerals for many a free African-American. As I stepped into the church, a feeling of harmony came up to my heart, the dark lights and silent surroundings made the place totally different from the modern and noisy outside world. It is a common characteristic that most churches share, a sacred atmosphere.
Boston is a world-famous city, an interesting place with exciting entertainments and potential possibilities for the young. However, Boston is attractive to me because its universities and its uniquely historic value. It was a pity that we did not finish the whole freedom trail. Walking alone the old streets, thinking of the days when the great pioneers fought for freedom and civil rights. This kind of fight is a quest that beyond the national borders and a common language that people from various backgrounds and races all can understand.
