Harvard University

Leina

This is my second time to visit Harvard, the first place I visited in my first week of arrival. It seems familiar, the tour guide’s introduction and explanation convey more information that I did not know in the past. I like her presentation, natural and fluent. However, let me talk about Harvard in my own view, I do not want to just repeat or paraphrase the descriptions said by the tour guide or the Internet.

Harvard University, the oldest university in the U.S., is even older this country itself. It was founded in the early colonial time. It is one of the most attractive places in Boston, an education institution where talented people gather together. Some students study in Harvard because of family background, but as Harvard is a rarely need-blind university to all applicants, no matter whether Americans or international students, financial predicament is not a reason for not being accepted. It is true that total cost for one year in most universities in Boston exceeds $50,000; however, only in Harvard and MIT, a generous financial package is available to all accepted students. It is these universities that prove the truth—all who are desire to succeed and willing to work hard deserve a chance to get a good education. Not every dreamer can realize their dreams, but at least, they can have a try.

The architecture in Harvard is very different from that in Northeastern University. Harvard is classic while NEU is modern. I think it may be more comfortable to live in NEU. Although it is not very new, the law school in Harvard impressed me, which is the best law school in the United States; only eloquent people can have a place there, in the spectacular building with glory for over hundreds of years. Be eloquent, it is not easy for a native speaker, not to mention others.

After all, Harvard is a university in essence; I do not want to mystify it. Becoming a Harvard student does not ensure a bright future, but when one person does his best to explore a way for himself; he is not intended to be a student of a famous university, but to be the master of his fate and to prove his own values of existence.
