Black Heritage Trail

Last Friday, we visited Black Heritage. It is an important place in American black history.
We started from Robert Gould Shaw and 54th Regiment Memorial Beacon where Helen and I did a presentation. This is a high-relief bronze memorial to Colonel Shaw and the 54th Regiment. The 54th Regiment of Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was the first black regiment to be recruited in the North during civil war. And Robert Gould Shaw was a white offer. With his leading, the 54th Regiment was famous for the assault on Fort Wagner. This was a horrifying war because Colonel Shaw and a lot of soldiers of the 54th Regiment were killed. Colonel Shaw and his soldiers showed great militant bonds of friendship. All of them won the respect of all Americans.
Furthermore, we visited other meaningful places in Black Heritage Trail, including African Meeting House, Abiel Smith School and Charles Street Meeting House… All of them recorded the American black history and made me learn a lot. Massachusetts was the first U.S. state of declaring slavery illegal. Black Heritage embodies the process of American black’s status change.
America is a multi-ethnic country. African Americana take a very important part in America. Nowadays, they have equal status as other white people. But it is not easy because many people devoted their lifetimes in revolution of radical equality. I really enjoy the meaningful trail because it makes me better learn American black history.
